![]() After all, when we first met the Drengir they were trapped on a space station…īut this is good stuff. Surely it’s only a matter of time before the station suffers a major power loss and the Drengir get free. That said, I wonder I this is the last we’ll actually see of the Drengir, given that they’re now in stasis at the heart of Starlight Beacon (I keep wanting to call it the Starlight Citadel, but that’s something else entirely, from a whole other fictional universe). That’s no bad thing, I’m glad that the story is crossing media in this way. I’ll be honest, I’m surprised that the Drengir have been defeated in a comic, given that they were introduced in a novel. ![]() It’s Jedi vs Drengir with the fate of the galaxy in the balance! So yeah, this series continues to be an absolute banger! Bravo Cavan Scott! I can't wait to see what the future has in store for her character. She is still far from a self-assured, calm Jedi knight, but she is getting there and she is constantly growing. Keeve Trennis has become one of my favorites in the High Republic era, and in this issue you really get to see how much she has grown from the insecure girl from issue one who could hardly speak to Avar without blushing and messing up her words. ![]() Seeing these crossovers between different mediums and stories is always a lot of fun. One thing I really loved about this issue was how many Jedi there were fighting together - the art of all those warriors with their lightsabers going against the Drengir was incredible - and I liked how alongside the Jedi of this comic (Avar, Ceret, Terec, Sskeer and Keeve) there are some familiar faces from other books and comics, such as Reath Silas and Cohmac Vitus. I'm also eager to see what the next arc will be about for I have a feeling it will be quite different from this past arc. I love this story, its characters and plot lines so much, and this issue did not disappoint. ![]() As the rest of the galaxy is focused on the Republic Fair on Valo, a small group of Jedi are going up against the leader of the Drengir, led by Avar Kriss. Issue 8 concludes the second story arc in Cavan Scott's High Republic comic. ”Because when Jedi come together, we do incredible things.” That's all I say.ĭon't get me wrong, I still want to know what's gonna happen but, well, some of the things I thought were gonna happen are, apparently, out of the picture and that saddens me somewhat.Īdd to that the fact that I'm still getting used to this new art style and, well, I think this experience is gonna be interesting. Then, I read the books in wave two of The High Republic and that excitement fled me. I wonder why the issue doesn't have the cover?Īnyway, if my memory doesn't fail me last issue ended on some huge cliffhanger, it had me really excited to see where this story was gonna go. I just had a lot of fun reading this issue and appreciating everything that happened. I mean, it wasn't surprising that the events from The Rising Storm would be touched upon, considering linear timelines and all, but, well, the impact of seeing those things instead of just imagining them was very shocking and a great way to cap the issue. It makes perfect sense, of course, since we have been building to it slowly I guess I'm just surprised.Īs I said, the whole issue was very straightforward and to the point giving us all the action that we could hope for and bringing characters that I was not expecting to see, but made total sense that they were there since they started the whole journey it was only fitting that they ended it too all of it just contributing for the moment to feel grand and epic. See, it's not that anything happening here was bad, on the contrary, I quite loved it but, well, it feels a little convenient and wrong, somehow, that it happened on a comic, of all places. I gotta say, this issue was a lot of fun but, that can't possibly be it, right? It is the light… For the Force is life! Light banishes darkness, great progenitor. Because when Jedi come together, we do incredible things. Avar does bring us together, which was your biggest mistake.
